Part of me wanted Paxton to win this Republican primary. Because Paxton is such a noxious individual, Talarico has a better chance of beating him than Cornyn. But the results, Paxton won with 64% of the vote, have deeply saddened me. In a crowded field, Paxton is one of the most corrupt politicians ever. He was impeached by his own party. He got his buddy’s child sexual assault reduced to a misdemeanor with one day in jail. The list of Paxton’s scandals goes on and on. And, of course, he is an evangelical Christian. How could people vote for this man?
