The tour ended on the 15th, but one of the Aussie’s and I decided to go back to Gamboa and stay a few more days. Gamboa is a small town, with one grocery shop and one restaurant. It has a beautiful, laid back vibe and is within walking distance of some great birding, including Pipeline Road.
I like Gamboa.
I really like Gamboa.
I could easily spend a winter there.

l got an AirBnB in town. This is the view off my back deck.
The Aussie found another BnB a couple blocks away and we spent the next two days exploring the area on foot. One of the highlights was the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center.
The Discovery Center is an “ecotourism and environmental education project under the administration of Eugene Eisenmann Avifauna Foundation”, whose main goal is the conservation of birds through environmental sustainability projects.

Lots of cool trails and 32m (105 ft.) observation tower that gets you above the upper canopy level for an astounding view.

February 18th was the end of the journey. I always have mixed feelings at the end of a trip. A bit sad that it is over. Ready to get back to some simple things I miss, like fresh milk. Wondering if I’ll ever return. Panama was great, but there are so many places I haven’t seen.
Wanderings will continue…
