Buck's Stop

Upper Texas Coast – April ’26

Took a short trip down to the Port Arthur area to get in on the spring migration action.

Sea Rim State Park is a great place to see shorebirds, sandpipers, gulls, and terns. And no mosquitoes this visit!

Acre for acre, Sabine Woods, a Texas Ornithological Society sanctuary, is possibly my favorite birding destination in the United States. If you’re chasing spring warbler migrations, this spot is absolutely at the top of the list.

Had a unexpected encounter this visit. A bobcat sauntered past, very unconcerned about my presence, must know birders are not a threat?

Located right on the Gulf coast, birds migrating over the Gulf of Mexico find Sabine Woods an irresistible food & rest stop.
